customer services
A lot of companies
look for call center services everywhere with not much success. Back in 2004,
several large BPO's have started migrating to Philippines call center
locations. Vonage, Dell, Sprint, as well as Orbitz.com shut down their Indian
centers and started going to the Philippines. Right now, all major clients are
expanding to the Philippines and have major operations in the country.
There are some
differences in these geographical locations of India and the Philippines and
each has its edge over the other. So what exactly are the more specific
characteristics that define the Philippine contact center industry.
Right now, India is
still a much bigger contender in the global call center competition. This is
because of the sheer amount of its population and also because it was
established earlier. The Philippines comes in second in the call center and
general BPO global competition since it has a smaller population compared to
the monster population of India and the cheap labor that comes with such a
large population. But the Philippines is also known for its humongous
population (overpopulation is actually a major problem in the country) and can
therefore compete quite easily.
Increased
performance, savings in overhead costs and better ratings from the customers
calling the customer service or help desks numbers can be observed when moving
into Philippines call center businesses. These observations may be enough to
someday warrant a bigger migration to the country of BPO companies. But of
course, as there are already a lot of established centers in the India and
since the industry there has already gained enough foundation strength, these
two call center locations will be battling it out for many more years to come.
